Sterling Systems & Controls, Inc. started as a department of National Manufacturing in Sterling, Illinois around 1970. In 1972 a separate company was formed and named Sterling Controls, Inc. The company focused on solving automation challenges in many industries but focused primarily on the Agricultural industry. Feed Mill, Fertilizer and Poultry Processing facilities automation was the focus using state of the art technology available at the time. In 1986 Sterling Controls, Inc. was purchased by the owners of Prater Industries, Inc. After supplying controls for the equipment that Prater Industries manufactured Prater purchased the company to allow them to provide complete systems for the systems Prater manufactured (Grinding, Pulverizing, and Material Handling & Batching). In 2000 Sterling Controls, Inc. changed the name of the company to Sterling Systems & Controls, Inc. to more reflect the capabilities of the company and exploit the ability to provide mechanical and electrical solutions.

BATCHING SYSTEMS:

Batching systems utilize nonproprietary hardware, typically Personal Computer and Programmable Logic Controllers are the foundation of the systems. MSDS and Sequel Servers are used depending upon the requirements of the system. The database approach is a robust design that allows unlimited reporting and data retrieval. The Systems include Ingredient Lot Tracking, Finished Product Tracking, Hand-Add Pre-Weighing with move tickets that insure batch integrity and traceability. The system interface with most of the least cost formulation software and ERP system to allow for complete formulation, ingredient, production and usage/inventory. MICRO INGREDIENT SYSTEMS:

Our unique approach to micro and minor ingredient systems set us apart from typical modular weighing systems. The designs are customized for each application utilizing standard components. Prater-Sterling supplied a Minor Material Weighing System & Batching Controls to a bakery that produces fresh baked goods such as Buns, Bagels, French Bread and Italian Bread Products.
