Hammermills - Information

When processing materials in various industries, such as biofuels, fiber, recycling, food, chemical, feedstuffs, aquatic and pet food, selecting the most efficient processing equipment to meet your application may be a challenge. Since 1925, Prater-Sterling has solved the most demanding processing challenges for thousands of customers with truly innovative particle size reduction, classification, agglomeration, pneumatic and controls solutions that deliver shorter term return on investment.

* Cellulose and grain to fuel applications reducing raw materials to uniform particle sizes for cost-effective conversion
* Transforming waste into low emission fuels and resalable by-product
* Particle reduction for higher densities to reduce shipping and storage costs
* Finer particle distribution feedstuffs for optimum feed conversion
* Custom process controls for optimal levels of efficiency and cost savings

Prater-Sterling mills are widely used throughout the process industries for many different particle reduction applications requiring high capacities, power efficiency and uniform particle size. All models feature our exclusive Full Screen design, a proven system that ensures use of the entire available screen area, enhancing end product quality and equipment productivity.

One of the most valuable benefits to owning a Prater-Sterling mill is that you can increase throughput capacity without increasing power requirements. The design improves access to working parts simplifying screen changes.

The center feed, reversible and fully symmetrical rotors distribute the product across the full width of the screen area for even hammer wear, and allows the rotor to be reversed so both edges of the hammers can be utilized before replacement is required.

Correct clearance between hammers and screens is maintained by mounting all screens in heavy-duty frames. Rotors are wider for varied hammer arrangements, and are all supported between durable pillow block bearings. These proprietary design factors combine to provide a controlled, uniform granular grind with the benefits of easy maintenance.
