About Prater-Sterling
In 1925, Ralph Prater began manufacturing hammermills for the feed industry under the name Prater Pulverizer Company. The two succeeding generations of Praters continued building the business, which today provides one of the industry's more extensive and diversified lines of material processing solutions.
As the years passed, Prater noticed the potential opportunity to expand upon their current product line, particularly in manufacturing automation through process controls, specialized weighing systems and minor material handling equipment. The 1987 acquisition of Sterling Controls, Inc., quickly launched Prater into the systems business with new capabilities and effective solutions in process controls, batching and weighing systems, bagging controls and plant automation.
Prater-Sterling was quite successful in broadening its equipment and systems capabilities to serve a greater amount of industries, such as Agricultural and Food Processing, in which they would benefit from the use of technology associated with process control systems.
